Library Programs

I offer programs for Adults, and Children.
Adult programs consist of a PowerPoint Presentation. Some programs will also have animal ambassadors or artifacts.
Children's programs will consist of a story, animal ambassadors and artifacts.
Programs can be in person or virtual.

1. Biomimicry: Looking to Nature to Solve Today's Problems.

How did a Kingfisher improve a high speed train? How has a gecko helped astronauts? Hedgehogs are helping reduce the chances of concussions. These examples and many more will be discussed during this presentation. PPT with animal ambassadors.

2.Wonder of Birds

From building nests to using tools, learn about how intelligent our feathered friends truly are. PPT with animal ambassadors.

3.Monarchs: History and Science behind the Monarch Craze.

We have all heard the battle cry, "Plant Milkweed for Monarchs!" Will just planting milkweed fix the problem of the diminished numbers of the migrating population of Monarchs? What else can we do to help this iconic insect? PPT, and if this talk is done during Monarch season Monarch butterflies or caterpillars will accompany.

4. Women of Natural History

Throughout history women have made significant observations that have changed our understanding of the natural world. From Queen Hatshepsut's botanical collections (1478-1458 B.C.E), to paleontologist Mary Anning (1799-1847), to biologist Rachel Carson (1907-1964). PPT

1. Storytime With Animals

I have a number of Children's stories that I read to the children, and bring an animal ambassador that is featured in the story. This program is great for preschoolers. More than 1 story can be read, and time can be adjusted from 30 minutes to 1 hour.

3. Animal Families: What Makes a Bird a Bird?

Children will learn about the 5 vertebrate families: birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians, and fish, and what makes each special. Animal ambassadors representing each group will be present.

4. Animals Around the World
